Bacteria slowly killing Italy’s olive trees

Italy’s precious olive industry is in danger of collapsing because of an insect-borne bacteria that is spreading across ancient groves in the country’s south. Experts warn there is no way of stopping the infestation which has killed thousands of trees. Al Jazeera’s Claudio Lavanga reports from Gallipoli in Apulia.

    I think there is a species of insanity loose within the body politic of mankind of late, such that a threat to olive and olive oil production throughtout all of Western Europe is to be seen as (1:50) a 'tradition', not an industry.
