Maintaining a cloth filter is definitely not hard work or frustrating. I rinse it, then wring it out a couple times. It dries on the dish rack, and I use them multiple times a day. They NEVER smell bad. Every week I run them through the dishwasher.
Awesome 👌 I need to try this 😀
really like the cloth filter i recently got. it isn't that much work.
Whats the ratio again?
I so love how you describe coffee 😅 I am currently looking for easy ways to make good coffee without toouch equipment, in a hotel room. Any ideas?
aún no sé como hace mi abuela para hacer un café tan bueno
I had a sock "infuser" when I first moved out because it was cheap and made good coffee. It's the same thing as the filter but it had a ring you tied around it so you could make coldbrew. I never got a "musky" taste but I did get the taste of my other coffees because it was always being used. Now that I don't use it I smell the musk. Now I know how to clean it and maybe use it again after
I hate cloth filters I've used one and the washing uses a lot of water
I had my first experience with cloth filter coffee at The Colombian Coffee Company in Soho in London. It was an absolutely revelation. I had to investigate and buy my own setup the moment I got back home to the states. I'm looking forward to seeing if I can make it work, because it's completely worth the effort.
I literally just walked past the cloth filters today and didn't buy one because I wasn't confident about quality over the long term . . . but now I will definitely go back and get one. Thanks, James!
There are many weave types out there with much tighter filtration.
I love love love this type of filtering. I am full of nostalgia when I have coffee like this. This is how my mom makes her coffee. It is so much fun as well. Thank you for making this video
In mexico they are called “talegas”
I have used one and the clarity is so nice. For me, it is not worth the hassle of trying to keep a piece of cloth clean. I do prefer the flavor over a paper filter but I like the cleanliness and consistency of paper.
i love this man. i'd listen to him narrate the driving manual if he recorded it.
Could you not microwave the filter to quickly dry it out to prevent mildew rather than leave it in water?
Cheap hydrogen peroxide cleans cloth coffee filters very well. Just make sure to rinse is all out of the cloth before you use the filter.
Sir ? Do you know "kono" coffee cloth fliter , use it ! you won't regret !
That's how we have it in Brazil and I never thought that is what makes the difference between the coffe I make here in Britain and the one I drink back home. Thank you!
Wet storage of the cloth filter in fridge : the standard way
Me : Sound like a good way to go
The magic of salt in coffee : a means to decrease bitterness a bit
Me : Wait ! What if I didn’t need the fridge :3
So here I am, storing my aeropress cloth filter in a small jar of water with salt and a slice of lemon in it. There is some lacto fermentation going on, and that is precisely what is good about this 😀
Went on a trip to Costa Rica and the place the group stayed brewed coffee every day with a chorreador de cafe. Not a single person skipped coffee or put anything in their coffee that entire trip. And it was preground grocery store coffee, nothing special. First time I ever realised how good coffee could be.
"I'm aware I sound ridiculous talking about coffee this way to most people, but I'm having a good time so, ¯_(ツ)_/¯"
YES! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Born and raised in Puerto Rico I grew with cloth coffee filters. The way we make coffee there is pretty simple, but if you do not like strong coffee it is not for you. Add water to a pot then add coffee grounds to it bring to a boil and let it boil for about 3 minutes. Pour through your cloth filter.
Any thoughts on the Coffee Stock V60 filter?
Thank you James for an excellent video. I am a relative novice, but I really enjoy the ritual around coffee brewing. Also, I love light to medium roast coffees, but am often frustrated by their light body. You’ve convinced me to try cloth filers, thanks again.
