  1. 2:41 You should translate walhamdulillahirobbil'alamin faithfully, "All praises to the Lord of the 'Alamin" (Allah), instead of the incorrect "thank goodness". What was so hard about that?

  2. China is destroying all cottage industries globally. And when one fails, the skills disappear with it. Then all we are left with is the industrial machine, turning people's souls into cheap products.

  3. I hope Israel lets them have exemptions somewhat and sell their soaps online. I'm sure they'll have plenty of customers. But eventually it becomes political as is the nature of the geography.

  4. At 2:40, the translation indicates that Ahmad al-Fakhouri (the supervisor of Nablus Soap Company) said, "Thank goodness," after saying that he still works at the factory after many years of business. That is entirely inaccurate. He actually said, "Thank God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful." He was expressing gratitude to his Creator, not to the concept of goodness, i.e., "the quality of being morally good or virtuous".

Also, a few seconds before, Ahmad thanked God for enabling him to get married using money he made from his soap factory, but his expression of gratitude toward God wasn't even included in the translation. It was important enough for him to be moved to say it, but not apparently not important enough to the translators for them to ensure non-Arabic speakers understood his words & his message clearly & accurately.

The translators, Sarah Elkasaby & Reem Makhoul, knowingly rendered a translation that removed the mention of God. I would venture to say Ahmad al-Fakhouri would not be pleased to know that his words were changed to make non-Arabic speakers think he thanked other than his Lord for his success.

Any practicing Muslim, Christian or Jew would be upset to know their gratitude toward their Creator was ignorantly or knowingly mistranslated to lead people who don't speak their language to believe that they would ever give thanks for their successes to a concept, rather than God.

Also, in the top comment from Da Kakashi, it is claimed that the translators also made an error when translating "caustic soda" as "baking soda". These are not solid translators you employed here, Insider.

  5. This, with more permissive export rules and a great marketing campaign would be easy a multi million dollar operation if you export to Europe and the US. I would buy this … I already buy the fancy french stuff and I am far from a vegan, hipster, eco-nut. Sad, really sad …

  6. I love this soap! I ordered 6 bars and it's just wonderful. My skin was nice, clean, and soft. It's a very gentle soap. It doesn't foam until you're clean. I love that!
