  7. In theory I get what he’s saying, however in practice, the 5 blue zones seem to get along fine with limited amounts of dairy and meat and certainly use plenty of olive oil.

  8. but avos', nuts, peanut butter, nut butter are some of the most important and tasty things to eat on a vegan diet. if he is abit old and can't diegst them or doesn't like it, ok. but don't be an anti-fat and oil dictator. avo is one of the easiest diegestable foods ever. all people should use these foods. there are people who need healthy oils in their vegan diet to get enough calories. not all people arehis patients recobering from stroke and even for them nuts and avocados would be helpful.

  10. Doctors don’t know everything. This is because our minds are in fear mostly… Fear and stress is unhealthy for the human body. No amount of education can erase fear of death. The human mind is always focused on preserving life and prolonging death. It just isn’t possible. Not completely. I had heart surgery, I am now vegan, I stopped taking all of my prescription meds (without doctor supervision), and I still consume oils (olive and coconut). I try to do my own cooking more and more. I think the no oil movement is fear-based. When a doctor tells people to not eat avocados and nuts, that is a lot of fear. I call it as I see it. All we can do is practice meditation and be happy and enjoy life. Love ourselves and love other people more. All of our thoughts add up. Even if we do avoid oils at all costs, we are always in fear of oils deep within. Those are thoughts we are also having. It is fear of oil that drives that belief, and beliefs are thoughts that we continue to think over and over again.

    25 years this November since my bypass.

    Did the diet pretty well for most of the time.

    Lost a couple dogs last two years and missed them terribly so cheated on and off during last 2 yrs.
    Getting back to it almost perfectly. Thanks for the inspiration. I have given your name to countless people since seeing you.

  15. Caldwell Esselstyn is NOT a cardiologist…. which is probably what makes him so good (i.e., not trained to sell pills and invasive surgeries). He’s a surgeon who has done extensive research on cardiology patients who were sent home to die (because of failed multiple stents and failed multiple bypass surgeries).

  16. An important point is that once I started this diet I had to stay with it. After 10 years I relaxed the rules and started to feel worse but getting back to it again appears to have fixed that (at 68 I just want to stay alive for as long as I can and be part of my growing family). A minor irritation is being Diabetic II I also have to make adjustments for the effect carbohydrate has on my blood sugar. I also suffered from AF but apparently your heart (and other organs) needs enough water to function so I have at least 1/2 pint every 4 hours (I no longer drink alcohol). I haven't had AF now for over 8 years. I can only comment on what works for me and I have no doubt now that this does work for me (diagnosed with 95% blockages in 3 arteries and avoided triple heart bypass).

  17. I don't like how some plant based advocates are promoting Oils.
    Simon Hill, a 34 yrs old nutritionist/chef, who has become quite influencial says no problem for oil because he hasn't seen any evidence that is harms the body of healthy people, yet Esselstyn has proving this for years.
    The whole Oil thing is certainly confusing since all the Blue Zones use Oil and animal products too.
    Who to believe?
    Well, Esselstyn ,his wife and and T.Colin Campbell are 87 yrs old and thriving.
    Maybe we should finally listen to them instead of a 34 yr old whose business relies on Olive and Sesame Oil use.
    Plus 80% of Olive Oil is fake, apparently!
