Meanwhile, The Brazilian rainforest has been clearcut and slashed and burned to the extent that is now a net producer of "greenhouse gasses" (carbon dioxide, methane, and others) instead of the sink that it used to be. Scientists have recorded a 75% loss of invertebrate (mostly insects including pollintors) biomass in Western Germany. Meanwhile, USA commercial beekeepers are losing more than 40% of their hives yearly. In the USA some 80% of food crops require insect pollinators.

Maybe that Tunisian farmer is trying to grow olives where it should not be. 1/3 rd of arable area in Tunisia is said to be planted with olive trees and its oil is mainly for export while a lot of food is imported. They should perhaps plant food crops capable of growing on much less water.
