Never use a knife to open the can. Use paint pryer or screwdriver. Much safer that way. palmface
Hi Hank – I mentioned to you on an earlier video that I'm doing the same job you are, with a 1955 gasoline Super 55 I inherited from my step-father. Wanted to mention another parts source and a place you might want to visit. Barrick's Tires in Newville PA. I called them and they were able to cannibalize an original seat with the springs from a tractor on their property, plus order two pieces of sheet metal I hadn't been able to find: the Oliver grill centerpiece, and the nosepiece that holds the Oliver badge on the front of the tractor. They have a bunch (maybe 10-12) old Olivers on their property, plus some Masseys and John Deere antiques. They of course sell tires, and they have a huge inventory of farm toys. Worth a trip
👍 Looking food guys. Can't wait for the fire up.
There are 2 55 Oliver versions. One has an aluminum cover on the transmission and version 2 has a cast iron cover. The aluminum ones cracked real bad. Most are covered with welds and leak bad.
That is called a bail on the sediment bowl.
You really cuss when the break that lil square plastic insulator that goes in the side of the distributor or you drop the lil nut on the ground or it falls inside of the distributor. Many many years ago as a service we would pick up some parts for a customer and take it with our orders and he would get many parts for a magneto or carb like on that tractor. Dwayne at Valley Motor Supply in Roswell NM has a ton of parts for old cars and trucks where he has bought out stores closing.
They make a cleanable glass filter that is smaller in size
Hi Hank Don't really need a filter with a Sediment bowl Can you put the filter on other end near bowl
I can’t wait to hear Olive oil purr! Isn’t it funny how many tools you have to pick up when you’re ready to start it. You might be able to fill the tires with expanding foam. 👍
Hank, that's not a screw! It's a 6 penny nail.
you should’ve adjusted the valves before putting the tank on
Hank when are we going to here olive oil run just wondering
Today our 550 tire was low, so we tried filling it, turns out that the back tires have calcium in them, the tire service will be out tomorrow morning to put new tubes and rim guard in.
Roll, Tide!
Take a strong magnet and pull it from handle to tip and away to magnetize the screwdriver. The more repeats of that procedure wil increase the strenght of magnetization. (til you get tired)
Your doing great
I have an oilver super 55 in my shed that's just been sitting there for 40 years I'm hoping one day we can get it back to running
Pretty sure there was never an inline fuel filter originally, metal or plastic.
Enjoyed the video, just don’t blow yourself up 😉
Haven't watched many of your videos but I have watched more of this tractor than other ones. You admit you don't know anything about diesel engine and not that good with gas mechanics, but it seems like every other video is a will it start video. I guess the mechanic buddy just comes along and fixes every thing for you.
The sediment bowl and screen in the top of it is the filter. Also usually the fuel inlet will have a screen on the carb. I know this doesn't make a difference since you gave it away but for other old stuff you come across.
Bail….that's what holds the sediment bowl. That's the word y'all were looking for.
Man look at the size of that antiseize can!!! You must plan to use a lot of that stuff!🤣🤣🤣😂
I would add more rubber line and move that fuel filter lower away from the exhaust even with the metal filter
