Love that tractor
The original engines were badged 3150 cat , which was a 570 cid 1160 model engine , the Clark mfwa was second to none at the time, spent lots of time on one of those when I was younger, very robust unit,1 down side the engine had to be raised to change the starter and the crossover exhaust pipe.
My Grand Father bought a FWA 2255 Brand new back in the day. My uncle traded it fore a White 2155 with a cab. Then my Brother in law's family bought the Oliver. When i was teenager I worked On there farm and did a lot of wheel harrowing with that 2255.
Shame they used the 3208 in those, they sound good and are simple but they’re a parent bore engine, no liners so when worn out they’re a throw away motor. They’d have been better off with a 555 Cummins or 6v53 Detroit, similar power but you can actually rebuild them. Still a neat old tractor though.
I don't know how those little v8 cats are in a tractor but in a truck they are nearly worthless. Just an absolute piece of junk, I'd damn near take a 366 or 427 gas burner over one.
I doubt that looked any better leaving the factory, just a beauty!
Hey my grandpa has a 2wd 2255 in his shed
A farm near where I lived had two four wheel drive Olvers one was open and the other had the cab. Both had Detroit Diesels for power.
Can you please make your content inclusive and accessible to everyone by formatting the auto captioning into closed captioning please? it is very hard to enjoy your content relying on only the auto captioning sadly (I'm Profoundly Deaf)
The 3208 is a disposable piece of junk……ask me how? The 2150 was a much better tractor.
My dad had a 1948 Oliver tractor. I think it was a model R with three gears, a four cylinder gas model that was converted to butane with a big butane tank on the left side. I used to sit on my dad’s lap when he drove it. Some of my fondest memories as a very young boy.
What happened to Oliver tractors? Didn’t they get bought by White or something?
What would be fords closest tractor to the 2255. Ih has the 1568. Trying to find out the ford equivalent
I don't care what anyone says. A Caterpillar shouldn't be any other color than yellow
Oliver was way ahead of engineering compared to John Deere. To bad their ownership ran the company poorly.
Was utterly disgraceful how White destroyed this firm. Great video
I want one!
The 3208 CAT is a great motor!
Love the Olivers my grandfather sold. Was a dealer for decades. I can’t wait to get my 1850 done.
Beauty!
Gorgeous tractor 🚜.
We were farming with an Farmall 400 and IH Super W6 when I bought a ten year old Oliver 2050. Unbelievable difference in technology and performance. I was advised to buy a 6×16 plow to use with that Oliver, but it was plain to see right away that it could handle two more bottoms. The 2255 came out three years after my 2050. It must have been a monster doing tillage work.
Nice looking tractor. No thanks to that 3208 though. Garbage engine with throw away block. They should have put
A big 6 cylinder in it.
My dad had an old Oliver tricycle front-end . this one with a catapillar motor is a bear 🐻 very good dependable tractors .
Yeah, they had the cat "Throw-away" engine. Anything go wrong with the engine, throw it away and get another. Some people put cummin v-8's in them. These "engines only had 2 rings per piston. One compression ring, one oil ring. MF used this engine on the 1800 series 4wd.
The Oliver 2255s are amazing machines!!!
We had 27 Oliver's on the farm 77s all the way up to 1950t used them all
The early 2255 had a Caterpillar 3150 V8 engine. The engine change happened in 1974.
3208 was a dog. 215 horsepower.. throw away block.. never liked that engine.
I really wonder why so many of these do not have a cabin house, in Europe almost all tractors did, even in Soviet Union at the time.
