Veg oil is actually better than diesel for your engine because it is more viscous and lubricates better
My best info said to make bio diesel a process is required involving mixing the chip oil with a certain amount of methanol and lye , you got to get the glycerine (sticky crap) out of the veg oil then it is supposed to work great, smells like your driving a fish and chip shop.
would probably work reliably if the truck has a 70s to 80s 4 cylinder Diesel Engine (with the Mechanical HP Distributor Pump)

That´s a fact! Veg oil is better fuel for the planet. Burns cleaner than Fossil fuel.
Thats because you cannot run on pure oil, you have to mix it down with lye and methanol, how stupid

Diesel doesn't burn at all. It's heated and then it combusts under pressure from the pistons.
It sounds to me like you don't even realise how diesel engines work.
DO NOT PUT VEG OIL INTO ANY MODERN DIESEL ENGINE THAT USES COMMONRAIL FUEL INJECTION.
IT WILL DESTROY THE INJECTORS AND COST A FORTUNE TO FIX.
